Atlantic Apothecary strives in small town Smyrna

SMYRNA, Del. – Modeled after a staple Delaware pharmacy, Happy Harry’s, Atlantic Apothecary, earns almost double the average revenue of an independent pharmacy.

The secret is community involvement, according to Kevin Musto, owner, with an emphasis on customer service, staffing, sports team sponsorships and community screenings, and it seems to be working – Musto claims to have 15,000 patients in a town of 10,960.

Founded in 2007, the beginning year of the Great Recession, Musto needed an SBA loan to get started, but now the pharmacy employs 14 in the original location in Smyrna and 5 more in the company’s second location in Middletown, which opened in 2014.
